Citizen Support Organization

The Friends of Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation established in 1991 to support the goals of the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. The Friends membership in excess of 1,000 people has volunteered time and effort to earn funds to meet these purposes:

  • Preserve and enhance the wildlife and other Park resources
  • Provide living space for the wildlife that is as natural as possible while allowing observation for visitors
  • Increase public interest in the Park and an understanding of the natural environment of the Park
  • To raise funds to implement the above purposes in accordance with the established Master Site Plan approved by the Division of Recreation and Parks
Ongoing accomplishments:
  • Assisted in the design and preparation of the Park's Master Site Plan
  • Support the Children's Education Center
  • Support and staff the Outreach Program
  • Production of the Friends to Friends newsletter
  • Contribute to the Wildlife Connection Park newsletter
  • Organization of a series of annual events and activities

  • Raised funds for ...
        New Grey Fox habitat
        New Birds of Prey habitats
        Wildlife Walk (Phase 1)
        Wildlife Walk (Phase 2)
  • Brought renowned marine life artist Wyland to the Park to paint one of his famous murals of the manatees.
  • Promoted community involvement in the Park while becoming an integral part of this Community.
